OSBI Needs Public's Help in 5-year-old Bethany Homicide

The OSBI is offering up to $10,000 for video believed to exist in the October 2011 murder of 19-year-old Carina Saunders. Her dismembered body was found October 13th behind the Homeland grocery store near the corner of N.W. 23rd Street and Rockwell Avenue in Bethany.

Bethany police detectives, Oklahoma City police detectives, OSBI special agents, and other law enforcement officials have interviewed more than a hundred people in the past five years about this homicide.

OSBI special agents have spent the past several years narrowing a timeline of events in Saunders' life. Agent Jim Ely is focusing on the last year with emphasis on several dates when she was last seen by a relative, when she was last seen, and when her remains were found.

Saunders did not have a vehicle nor did she own a cell phone. She relied on others to give her rides to different destinations. She also borrowed cell phones to communicate. OSBI wants to speak to anyone who gave Saunders a ride or let her use their phone from September 28, 2011, up to when her body was discovered.

OSBI does know she was last seen October 8, 2011, getting inside a red, dual cab pickup at the Newcastle Casino. One man getting out of the truck had tattoo sleeves on both arms. OSBI needs to identify that man and the others inside the truck.

Over the course of this investigation, many of those interviewed claim to have seen a video of the murder, but no one has produced a copy or clips of that video. Today, OSBI is offering a substantial reward -- the largest amount available under state law -- for a copy of that video. It is important agents received the device on which the video is stored, i.e. cell phone, laptop computer, etc. Anyone with information about that video or any information about Saunders' murder, call the OSBI hotline at 1-800-522-8017.
