Reference: Fatal Accident

The Norton Shores Police Department is investigating a fatal crash that occurred today at the corner of Seminole and Henry st. The crash occurred at approximately 11:15 a.m and is still under investigation. Witnesses at the scene reported that a 2008 Chevy Equinox tan in color ran a red light at a high rate of speed on W/B Seminole at Henry. The vehicle struck a 2005 black GMC Yukon that was traveling N/B on Henry st. A power pole and fire hydrant was also struck causing extensive damage at the intersection. Road closures were in place for cleanup and investigative purposes for over two hours.

The driver of the 2008 Chevy was later pronounced dead at Hackley hospital. The driver was a 72 yr old male, Muskegon Hts resident.

The driver of the 2005 GMC was a 62 yr old male, Laketon Township resident. He is being treated for injuries at Hackley hospital and is in stable condition.

The Norton Shores Police and Fire Departments were assisted at the scene by the Roosevelt Park Police Department.
