<p><strong>09/26</strong></p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>Welfare Check:</strong>&nbsp; Officers made contact with an individual who had not shown up for work for 2 weeks.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>Found Property:</strong>&nbsp; A black jacket was turned in to the Valdez Police Department.&nbsp; Please call with further descriptors to claim.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>Await Trial:&nbsp; </strong>Osvaldo Carrillo, DOB: 07/10/1987, of Valdez checked in to the Valdez Jail to await trial on charges of DUI and Refusal to Submit to Chemical Test.&nbsp; On 9/28 a Valdez Jury convicted Carrillo of both counts.&nbsp; Carrillo was remanded to serve the remainder of his sentence.</p>

<p><strong>Theft of Property:</strong>&nbsp; A caller reported a female attempting to steal books from the Library.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>Theft of Bicycle:</strong>&nbsp; A bicycle was reported stolen from a local business.&nbsp; The caller later called back and reported the bicycle was returned back to the establishment.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>Theft of Property:</strong>&nbsp; An out-of-town caller reported someone from Valdez was trying to sell them stolen merchandise.&nbsp; This case is under investigation.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>Public Appearance:</strong>&nbsp; Valdez Police attended the suicide awareness walk with AVV.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>Oil Spill:</strong>&nbsp; A caller reported that while a commercial dump truck was being towed, large amounts of oil was left in the roadway.&nbsp; Dispatch notified DEC.&nbsp; Fire Personnel made contact with the responsible party who worked on cleaning up the area with absorbent pads.</p>

<p><strong>09/28</strong></p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>Theft of Property:</strong>&nbsp; Officers were requested at a local business to view a video of a juvenile concealing merchandise. The juvenile was identified and the parent has been contacted.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>Barking Dog:</strong>&nbsp; A caller reported that their neighbor&rsquo;s dog was continuously barking.&nbsp; ACO responded and found that the dog was tangled in some brush and could not move.&nbsp; The owner was contacted and they took care of the issue.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>Public Appearance:</strong>&nbsp; The Animal Control Officer gave 25 2nd graders a tour of the Animal Shelter.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>Animal Impound:</strong>&nbsp; A German Sheppard was running around a neighborhood.&nbsp; The Animal Control Officer captured the dog and surrendered it to the Valdez Animal Shelter.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>Theft of Property:</strong>&nbsp; A caller reported a carton of cigarettes was stolen from their vehicle.&nbsp; Complainant later found them at their office.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>Possible Drunk Driver:&nbsp; </strong>A caller reported a blue Ford Focus having a hard time staying in their lane. Officers contacted the driver and did not detect any signs of impairment.&nbsp; The driver claimed that they were not aware they were driving poorly and will pay more attention.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>911 Hang Ups:</strong>&nbsp; Children were repeatedly calling the 911 emergency line and making false reports.&nbsp; Valdez Police Department encourages parents to educate their children on proper use of 911.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>Assist EMS:</strong>&nbsp; Officers assisted EMS on a medical call.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>Theft of Services:</strong>&nbsp; A local restaurant reported patrons leaving without paying their bill.&nbsp; This case is under investigation.</p>

<p><strong>09/30</strong></p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>Arrested:</strong>&nbsp; Valton Donald Ward, DOB: 11/24/1981, of Valdez was arrested for Driving w/out a Valid Operator&rsquo;s License and cited for having an open alcohol container.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>Welfare Check:</strong>&nbsp; Several callers reported a young woman walking along the tide flats wearing dark clothes and motorists were unable to see her in the dark.&nbsp; Officers responded and provided the young woman transportation to her destination.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>MICS Marijuana:</strong>&nbsp; A caller reported smelling marijuana at a local business.&nbsp; Officers responded and issued citations for public consumption of marijuana.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>Bench Warrant Arrest:</strong>&nbsp; Joseph Harper, DOB: 06/19/1986, of Cedar Rapids, IA was arrested on an outstanding $500 Soldotna warrant for Failure to Appear. Original charge: Driving with a Suspended License.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>Reckless Driving:</strong>&nbsp; A driver was reported driving 80-90 mph on the highway and lost control almost causing an accident.&nbsp; An officer was able to track down their place of employment and spoke with the safety coordinator who was going to discuss the issue with the individual.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>Agency Assist:&nbsp; </strong>A woman reported that her husband who is hunting alone in the Denali area did not call during their scheduled time.&nbsp; She was concerned he may have been having medical issues.&nbsp; Dispatch contacted Fairbanks State Troopers who were going to respond.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>Serve Time:</strong>&nbsp; Anthony Maxim, DOB: 09/09/1994, of Gakona, AK reported to the Valdez Jail to serve a 3 day sentence for Importing Alcohol.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>Lost Property:</strong>&nbsp; A flip phone cell phone with a cracked screen was lost in the Valdez Area.&nbsp; If found, please return to the Valdez Police Department.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>Bench Warrant Arrest:</strong>&nbsp; Alexander J. Kompkoff, DOB: 05/17/1984, of Valdez was arrested on an outstanding $500 Valdez warrant for Failure to Appear.&nbsp; Original charge was DUI.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>ATV:&nbsp; </strong>Two ATV&rsquo;s were reported driving recklessly around the tide flats area by Homestead Road where motorized vehicles were prohibited.&nbsp; Officers made contact with the drivers and talked to them about where they can and can&rsquo;t ride.</p>

<p><strong>Bear Call:</strong>&nbsp; A big black bear was reported on Hanagita.&nbsp; Officers scared the bear back up the mountain.</p>

<p><strong>10/01</strong></p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>Disturbance Noise:</strong>&nbsp; A noise disturbance was reported at a local hotel. Officers responded and found a group of intoxicated individuals trying to get into their hotel room.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>Disturbance Noise:</strong>&nbsp; A caller reported someone was banging on their front door and then their bedroom window.&nbsp; Officers patrolled the area and didn&rsquo;t find anyone in the area.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>Assist EMS:</strong>&nbsp; VPD assisted EMS on a medical call.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>Animal DOA:</strong>&nbsp; An officer removed a deceased animal from the roadway.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>Family Issues:</strong>&nbsp; Officers were requested to mediate an ongoing issue between a couple.&nbsp; Both parties were given warning for Disorderly Conduct.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>Computer Fraud:&nbsp; </strong>A caller requested to speak to an officer regarding their computer and bank accounts being hacked.&nbsp; Valdez Police Department advises to not give out any personal information to unknown individuals.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>Lost Property:</strong>&nbsp; A black men&rsquo;s wallet containing cash, an ID, credit cards, and bank card was lost in the Valdez area.&nbsp; If found, please turn in to the Valdez Police Department.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>Bear Call:</strong>&nbsp; Valdez Police are receiving numerous calls of a sow and a cub between Bremner and Robe River Dr.&nbsp; VPD would like to remind residents to keep all trash put away or disposed of properly to avoid the bears getting into garbage.</p>

<p><strong>10/02</strong></p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>Welfare Check:</strong>&nbsp; A welfare check was requested on an individual who had left their vehicle parked at the Solomon Gulch trailhead for 2 days.&nbsp; After investigation, it was discovered the individual was fine and was out hunting.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>Missing Person:</strong>&nbsp; An individual called reporting that her husband didn&rsquo;t show up for his goat hunt.&nbsp; After investigation, it was discovered that the individual had spoken to a third party while on his way up the mountain to go goat hunting and that everything was ok.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>Found Property:</strong>&nbsp; A girls bicycle was found in Alpine Woods.&nbsp; Contact the Valdez Police Department with descriptors to claim.</p>
