Oil Line Release at Kinneville/Stone Rd. In Onondaga Twp

Around 730pm on Sunday, October 2 2016, the Ingham County Sheriffs Office - Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Management responded to the area of Kinneville and Stone Rd. in Onondaga Township for the the report of an oil leak in a field. An area was located where crude oil and brine was leaking. A 3 inch line from an oil pump owned by Omimex Energy had failed. The DEQ, Ingham County Environmental Health, Ingham County Drain Commission, and a representative from Omimex Energy were contacted. A 3 inch supply line failed and released approximately 42 gallons of crude oil and brine. The release was near a corn field and wooded area. DEQ will be on site tomorrow to ensure proper clean up is done. The landowner also was advised.
