NARRATIVE:  Traffic investigators from the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station are investigating the circumstances of a fatal traffic collision involving a pedestrian, who was a Southern California Edison worker, and a vehicle.  The collision occurred on Avenue K west of 20th Street East, in the City of Lancaster.

Preliminary information gathered at the scene revealed the Southern California Edison was working on a power box when a black BMW 740 left the roadway while traveling west on Avenue K.  Avenue K is a three lane road for westbound traffic with a posted speed limit of 50mph at the collision scene.  According to witnesses, the BMW was driving at an unknown high speed when the collision occurred.  The driver of the BMW had to be rescued from the vehicle by Los Angeles County Fire Department.

The driver was transported to a local hospital where he is in critical condition as of 1600hrs.  The Southern California Edison worker was pronounced dead at the scene by the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
