Media Release: Street Robbery Arrest
On Wednesday, September 21, 2016, at approximately 6:40 PM, a robbery occurred on the sidewalk near the intersection of Rodeo Drive and Brighton Way in the City of Beverly Hills. While walking on the sidewalk, two adult males were approached by a lone male suspect. The male suspect produced a handgun and demanded that both victims hand over their wristwatches. Fearing for their safety, the victims complied with the suspects demand. The suspect then fled eastbound on foot with the stolen property.
Utilizing the City of Beverly Hills' extensive video surveillance system, investigating officers were able to track the suspect after he fled the crime scene.
Investigators also identified the vehicle the suspect had used to travel to and from the area. Using this information, combined with other law enforcement sources, the suspect was identified and located in Inglewood, California. He was arrested within eighteen hours after he committed the crime. He is identified as 22-year-old Kenyon Donester of Altadena, California.
A subsequent search warrant and additional investigation was conducted which lead to the recovery of one of the victims wristwatches. The second wristwatch remains outstanding at this time.
On September 26, 2016, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office filed two counts of second degree Robbery and one count of Identity Theft against Kenyon Donester. Donester is due back in court on October 12, 2016, in Department W31 at LAX Superior Court.
