On 9/27/16 at approximately 11:43AM, Walnut Creek Police Officers were dispatched to the Marriott Hotel (2355 N. Main Street) for a report of an attempted theft that just occurred. WCPD dispatch was advised that two white males were confronted while attempting to steal equipment from the hotel garage. When they were confronted by an employee, both suspects pulled a handgun on the employee. The suspects were reported to have fled on foot onto the nearby 680 freeway. Officers spotted the suspects on the freeway, one with gun in hand. Upon seeing the Officer, the suspects jumped a sound wall near the intersection of Riviera Avenue and Pringle Avenue. Witnesses reported seeing the suspects running into the garage of 100 Pringle Avenue. WCPD Officers set up a perimeter around the building and within minutes both suspects were seen fleeing from within the perimeter. After short foot chases, both subjects were apprehended without further incident. Both firearms were recovered at the scene.

The suspects were identified as Edward Garofalo of Martinez and Luis Guerrero of Fairfield. In addition to the above charges, Guerrero was also wanted on a warrant for violating the terms of his PRCS (Post Release Community Supervision).
