Thousands of lives are lost each year due to drunk driving accidents and many more are affected. There are many resources available to those who may have consumed too much alcohol to be driving, such as taxi's, Uber, and by simply calling a friend or family member. It is not worth the risk of losing your life or taking someone elses. Please practice caution and drink responsibly. If you or someone you know is suffering from alcoholism, please reach out to addiction services, such Alcoholics Anonymous, Fairbanks Treatment and Recovery Center, or many of the other services available in Indianapolis. This release may be updated if more information becomes available.

*Note: The attached booking photos are those of the suspects, Glen Murphy and Michael Stugala.

INDIANAPOLIS - Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) Accident investigators responded to a fatal accident on the city's west side where alcohol was believed to be involved.

At approximately 2:15 a.m. on 09/25/2016, officers with the IMPD were dispatched to the area of Rockville Rd and I-465, on the city's west side, in reference to a serious accident involving two vehicles. Responding officers located a Buick sedan and a Ford Mustang at the intersection. The male passenger of the Ford was found unresponsive. EMS personnel responded and pronounced the male passenger dead on-scene.

Investigators believe that the Buick was headed east on Rockville Rd when the Ford turned left in front of it to get onto I-465 and was struck. Alcohol is believed to be a factor and both drivers were transported to the hospital for blood draws. Those results could take several weeks to get back. The victim's name will be released once proper next-of-kin notification has been made.

Remember, buzzed driving is drunk driving. Nothing is worth the risk of losing your life or taking someone elses when it comes to drinking and driving, especially in excess. Have a plan in place to get home safely when you know that you will be out drinking. These tragic accidents affect many lives outside those who are in the car. Please think twice before drinking and driving.
