Beware of Parking Violation Scam
The North Aurora Police Department is cautioning residents not to fall for a parking violation scam that has surfaced in our area.
This morning, a resident from the 400 block of W. State St. discovered a “Parking Violation” flyer on their car parked in their driveway. See the attached photo. The flyer indicated that the vehicle was illegally parked and would be towed after 24 hours. Furthermore, the flyer indicated that the owner would have to appear in court if a "fee" of $173.74 wasn’t paid within 10 days.
The resident did not believe the notice was official and notified police this morning.
Please be aware that any notice or ordinance citation issued by the North Aurora Police Department would clearly have our name on it as well as the signature & badge number of the issuing officer. If you have any doubt about the authenticity of a notice or citation, please call us at (630) 897-8705. We advise against making any payment over the phone. Official North Aurora ordinance violations can be paid in person at the Police Department or Village Hall.
