<p>Sun Prairie Police Department Media Release From:Lieutenant Brian Teasdale Date:September 22, 2016 Subject:Weapon Violation Sun Prairie High School On September 22, 2016 at approximately 2:10 PM, the Sun Prairie Police Department was notified of a potential weapons violation involving a student at the Sun Prairie High School. The police department learned that a student had posted a photograph of a handgun and a threatening statement on social media. Police staff and school officials removed the student from class and subsequently located a handgun and ammunition in a backpack. The student was taken into police custody and a criminal investigation is in progress. The police department is requesting that anyone having information about this incident call 608.837.7336 or the anonymous tip line 608.837.6300. No further information available at this time.</p>
