"Not My Kid" Back to School Event

Compton Community Parents…Please join us at the Compton Youth Activities league on Monday, September 26, 2016 for “Not My Kid”, where you can pick up free drug test kit.  “Not My Kid” will be on site with the Sheriff’s Youth Foundation of Los Angeles from 4pm to 6pm at the Compton location at 700 N. Alameda Street, Compton, CA 90221

With each new school year, kids are faced with many challenges, but nothing more serious than peer pressure to use drugs.  Often times, a simple “no” isn’t enough to deflect peer pressure, that’s why Not MY Kid, a national non-profit organization, is partnering with the Sheriff’s Youth Foundation of Los Angeles on their Annual Back to School Substance Abuse Prevention Campaign.

“Most parents are unaware that the average age for first-time drug experimentation is 13,” said Not My Kid CEO Aimee Runyon. “When a child starts using drugs, it is typically two years before parents realize there is a problem.  We want parents and children to visit our mock teen room to become knowledgeable and find out ways to start the dialogue early and keep the lines.
