RPD-Burglary Arrest Advisory-

15 September 2016

Riverside Residents and Business Owners –

I want to inform you that this week we made an arrest in an attempted felony commercial burglary and a felony commercial burglary.

Last week, after midnight, one business in the 100 block of East Burlington had an attempted break in and another business was successfully broken into.

Working directly with the business owners, our evidence technicians recovered fingerprints, DNA and video footage. We broadcasted this information to neighboring police departments and received a tip from Chicago PD on suspects they had arrested with a similar burglary pattern.

Yesterday, September 14, we arrested one male and one female who were charged with a total of four counts of felony commercial burglary. Both individuals are Berwyn residents and Riverside Police had prior contact with them in years past when they used to live in the 7900 block of West Ogden in Lyons.

I wanted to remind our business community that video evidence directly supported our arrest of these subjects on the burglary charges, along with the full cooperation from our business owners.

Respectfully,
Thomas Weitzel
Chief of Police
