Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department East Los Angeles Station detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding an attempt murder and kidnapping of a woman that occurred in the 5000 block of Whittier Boulevard, East Los Angeles. The incident occurred on Wednesday, September 7, 2016, at approximately 10:30 PM.

Detectives have learned that the suspect, a 29 year-old male Hispanic adult, approached the female victim, violently dragged her down the street against her will, and began to stab her with a knife. A passerby in the area saw this and tried to stop the attack by attempting to remove the suspect off of the victim. The suspect then slashed the passerby with his knife injuring him. Deputies, who were nearby, arrived on scene and quickly apprehended the suspect without incident. 

The victim, a female Hispanic adult, sustained several stab wounds to her body and was transported to a local hospital where she is recovering and is listed as being in good condition.

The weapon, a folding knife, was recovered at the scene.

The suspect was arrested at the scene. He was transported to the East Los Angeles Sheriff’s Station where he was charged for Attempted Murder along with several other charges.

The motive behind the attack is currently being investigated. The suspect and the victim did not know each other prior to this incident.
