Last chance to register! CERT Training starts Monday!

In the event of a disaster or large-scale emergency, public safety agencies will initially be overwhelmed by the demands placed upon personnel and resources. You can help yourself and your neighbors prepare and respond by joining the Los Altos Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).

The CERT program educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their immediate area and trains them in basic disaster response skills such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization and disaster medical operations.

2016 Los Altos CERT Training Series
Dates: September 12, 14, 19, 21, 26, and 28 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and October 1, 2016 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Note: Participants must attend each training date to become certified.

Location: Hillview Community Center, Los Altos, CA

Cost: $35.00 and includes basic personal protective equipment.

Participants must be age 16 or over and must attend each CERT training date in the series to become certified.

Using classroom and simulation based education, CERT members can assist others in the neighborhood or workplace immediately following an event when emergency responders may not be immediately available to help. CERT training is $35.00 and is accomplished in about 21-hours culminating with a final disaster simulation exercise applying the skills participants have learned.

Training is broken up into eight (8) modules:

- Emergency Preparedness
- CERT Organization
- Disaster Psychology
- Fire Safety
- Light Search and Rescue
- Emergency Medical Operations
- Terrorism
- Disaster Simulation Exercise
