Deputies respond to Lake Arrowhead where a five year old boy dies as a result of a boating collision

INCIDENT: Fatal Boat Traffic Collision
LOCATION: Lake Arrowhead
SUSPECT(S):
VICTIM(S): 5 year old boy
SUMMARY: A male adult was operating his boat on Lake Arrowhead with his family as well as a second family. He was pulling an adult skier, the victims mother, when she fell. He turned the boat to retrieve the skier when the 5 year old boy fell from the boat into the water. The boat struck the boy causing severe traumatic injuries. The boat operator and the victim's father entered the water and recovered the victim. Arrowhead Lake Association (ALA) patrol boats responded to the incident location within minutes as well as fire personnel who pronounced the victim deceased. The investigation is ongoing, but intoxication does not appear to be a factor. All juvenile passengers were wearing their personal floatation devices.
Specially trained deputies from the Colorado River Station's Boating Accident Investigation Team (BAIT) responded to the Twin Peaks Sheriff's Station to assist with the investigation. Anyone who witnessed or has information regarding the incident is encouraged to call Sergeant Harris or Corporal Cross.
