Community Advisory - Phone Scam Alert
The Scam:
The scam starts with receiving a phone call from a person proclaiming to be from the Windows Computer Software Company. The scammer states that your personal computer is having issues with the Windows Software program and/or that they are receiving an alert that someone is attempting to hack into your computer. The scammers are convincing, expressing their sincere concern in wanting to help stop the problem or alert affecting your computer. The scammer will proceed to ask you to turn on your computer and provide your passcode.. This is an attempt to retrieve information off your computer, possible for identity theft purposes. The scammer will also provide their call back number in case your call is lost, the number they are providing is 844-210-3999. Please use caution when recieving calls inquiring on personal information,
