HCSO Child Abuse Investigators Arrest Amber Alert Suspect.

(Harris County, TX) Harris County Sheriff’s Office Child Abuse Unit investigators have charged 19 year old Kevin Enrique Mejia with aggravated sexual assault of a child.

Mejia was the suspect of an Amber Alert issued on Monday, August 29, 2016, by the Katy Independent School District Police on a 13 year old minor that went missing from her school bus stop.

He met the 13 year old a few months earlier on a smartphone app, and began talking with her and exchanging messages.

Investigators say he picked up the female and drove her to his residence near the Sam Houston Tollway and Town Park drive in the City of Houston on Monday morning.

HCSO Investigators, along with Special Agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation converged on the residence and arrested Mejia without incident.

The minor was transported to a local hospital for a medical evaluation.

Mejia is being held on a $35,000 bond his first court appearance is tomorrow at 9:00 am in the Harris County Criminal Justice Center 339th. courtroom.
