The North Aurora Police Department is investigating a burglary from an unattended vehicle earlier today at a pre-school facility in the 300 blk. of Miller Dr.

The burglary occurred when a parent dropped off her child at the school.  She left the vehicle, a Mercedes Benz sport utility vehicle, in front of the school and went inside at about 8:03 a.m.  She returned to the vehicle at approximately 8:09 a.m. to find the driver’s door window smashed and a high-end designer laptop bag was stolen.  The bag contained her wallet, identification, credit cards, and cash.

Several day care & pre-school facilities in North Aurora and surrounding communities experienced similar crimes in November 2015.  In all cases, the victims left their vehicles unattended for only minutes while they dropped off or picked up their children.  Some vehicles were left unlocked and some had forced entry.

Similar crimes have been reported in other Fox Valley communities in the last few weeks.

The North Aurora Police Department is asking for the public’s help in watching for suspicious individuals and/or vehicles around day cares and school facilities.  If you see something suspicious, please call 911 immediately.  Citizens should not only lock their vehicles but also keep valuables out of sight.
