Crimes Against Children detectives arrest couple for willful cruelty and failing to provide for their 4 month old

DATE/TIME: July 20, 2016/ 7:00 pm

INCIDENT: PC 273(A), Willful Cruelty to a Child
PC 270, Failure to Provide

LOCATION: 6300 block of Smoke Tree Avenue, Twentynine Palms

SUSPECT(S): Alec Daniel Bailey, 20 year old white male adult, resident of the City of Twentynine Palms

Autumn Raven Evers, 24 year old white female adult, resident of the City of Twentynine Palms

VICTIM(S): 4 month old boy


SUMMARY: On July 20, 2016, at approximately 7:00 pm sheriff's dispatch received a call for medical aid for an unresponsive 4-month old in the 6300 block of Smoke Tree in Twentynine Palms. The child was transported to the Naval Hospital in Twentynine Palms, then transferred to Loma Linda Children's Hospital where he was evaluated by Forensic Pediatricians. During the evaluation, doctors discovered he had multiple fractures, and suffered from extreme malnutrition.

On August 23, 2016, Alec Bailey and Autumn Evers, who were responsible for the child's care, were arrested for Penal Code 273(A), Willful Cruelty to a Child and Penal Code 270, Failure to Provide, and booked at the Morongo Valley Jail. They are being held on $100,000.00 bail and scheduled for arraignment on August 25, 2016 at the Morongo Basin Superior Court. The child is currently in the care of Children and Family Services.
