The Norton Shores Police Department has identified a suspect from an armed robbery which occurred at the First Merit Bank.

Reference: Suspect developed -Armed Robbery First Merit Bank
The Norton Shores Police Department has identified a suspect from an armed robbery which occurred at the First Merit Bank, 917 W Norton, on May 23. The offender had entered the bank implying he had a gun and then fled walking west bound on Norton with an undisclosed amount of cash. A suspect was developed after another bank robbery occurred in the city of Big Rapids on July 20th at the 5/3rd Bank in Big Rapids. Investigators were able to develop a suspect through tips and interviews.
The suspect is a 33 yr old Grand Rapids resident who is currently in custody and lodged in the Mecosta County jail on robbery charges. A warrant is being sought through the Muskegon County Prosecutor for armed robbery. The suspect is also being investigated for two other bank robberies in the state of Michigan. Also, the suspect has a previous conviction for a 2011 bank robbery
The Norton Shores Police Department will provide more information as it is obtained. The Norton Shores Police Department is being assisted by the Federal Bureau of Investigations and the Big Rapids Police Department.
