*UPDATE*Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide Detectives Investigating Shooting Death of Man, 2100 Block of Broach Avenue, Duarte
Sheriff’s Homicide Detectives are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a man, which occurred Friday night in the 2100 block of Broach Avenue, Duarte.
Detectives learned that deputies from Temple Sheriff’s Station responded to the location regarding an “Assault with a Deadly Weapon” call. When deputies arrived, they were told that a shooting had occurred and the suspect had left in a white Toyota truck.
According to witnesses the victim and the suspect lived on the same lot in two separate residences. There was a party at the rear residence attended by both the victim and the suspect. As some point during the party, the victim and the suspect began to argue. The suspect then entered his residence, retrieved a handgun, exited, and fired multiple rounds at the victim, striking him. The suspect then left the location.
Deputies, checking the area for the suspect, located the suspect-vehicle. A brief pursuit was initiated on the eastbound Foothill Freeway (I-210). The suspect eventually pulled over at the Azusa off-ramp where he was taken into custody. A weapon was recovered inside the suspect’s vehicle.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity will not be revealed at this time.
The suspect was transported to Temple Sheriff’s Station. Charges are pending the suspect’s interview with investigators.
The investigation is still active and on-going. There is no further information.
