Seventeen year-old Rory Murga, the person of interest sought in the brutal stabbing death of a 16 year-old ex-girlfriend is in-custody.

On Tuesday, August 16, 2016, at about 7:35 a.m., Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies assigned to Pico Rivera Station’s summer enforcement team spotted Murga under a railroad underpass at Rosemead Boulevard and Slauson Avenue, Pico Rivera.

When deputies contacted the person of interest, he identified himself as Rory Murga, Jr.

Murga was taken into custody and transported to Pico Rivera Station for booking.  He will subsequently be transported to a juvenile detention facility where he will remain held without bail on a murder charge.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department would like to thank the public for the several tips received, which prompted deputies to search the surrounding Rosemead Boulevard and Slauson Avenue area.  

The investigation is on-going and there is no additional information available at this time.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Homicide detectives are seeking the public’s help in locating a person of interest in the death of 16-year-old Elena Moore. She was brutally stabbed in her home on Friday, August 12, 2016, at 3:15 a.m. in the 9800 block of Shade Lane, Pico Rivera.

Homicide Detectives have identified 17-year-old Rory Murga (ex-boyfriend) as a person of interest and are seeking the public’s assistance with locating him for questioning.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Homicide detectives are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the stabbing death of a girl that occurred on Friday, August 12, 2016, at 3:15 a.m. in the 9800 block of Shade Lane, Pico Rivera.

Homicide detectives learned Pico Rivera Station deputies were dispatched to the location in response to an “Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Knife” call.  When they arrived they found a 16-year-old girl suffering from stab wounds. 

Detectives learned that the victim’s mother was suddenly awoken by her daughter’s screams that she had been stabbed as she staggered into her bedroom and collapsed.

The 16-year-old victim was down stairs in her home when the suspect, entered the residence through the back door.  The stabbing occurred and she ran upstairs to her mother’s bedroom.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

It is unknown if the suspect was allowed into the residence by the victim or if he forced his way in. 

The motive for the attack is unknown at this time.

Based on the victim’s statements to her mother prior to her collapse, the victim’s ex-boyfriend is being sought to determine if he was involved in the attack. The victim and the ex-boyfriend’s one-year dating relationship had ended 2 weeks prior.

The investigation is ongoing and there is no additional information.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide detectives are responding to the 9800 block of Shade Lane, Pico Rivera, to investigate the circumstances surrounding the stabbing death of a female juvenile. 

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

There is no further information at this time and the investigation is on-going.
