Newberry Springs - Homicide investigation - suspect in custody

INCIDENT: Homicide Investigation
LOCATION: 30000 Block of Harvard Road, Newberry Springs
VICTIM: David Jay Popiolek, age 53 a resident of Newberry Springs
SUSPECT: June Popiolek, age 54 a resident of Newberry Springs
SUMMARY:
On Thursday, August 11, 2016, at approximately 4:05 p.m., deputies from the Barstow Sheriff’s Station responded to the report of a shooting in the 30000 block of Harvard Road in Newberry Springs. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the suspect, June Popiolek, in front of the residence. Deputies located the victim, David, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Emergency medical personnel arrived on scene and pronounced David deceased.
Detectives from the Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division - Homicide Detail responded to the location to conduct the investigation.
June Popiolek was arrested for PC 187 Murder and booked into the West Valley Detention Center.
