RPD-Theft/Burglary Advisory-

Riverside Residents -

Over the past several days the village has experienced additional thefts and burglaries from motor vehicles.

In the most recent incidents, unlocked vehicles were parked inside unlocked garages, and, in one incident, the door was standing wide open.

It appears these thefts and burglaries are occurring between 10:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. and they're taking whatever they can when they gain entry to the vehicles.

I implore residents, once again, to:
leave your outside house lights on,
close and lock garage doors,
close and lock side entry garage doors,
(if possible) put your vehicle(s) in your garage,
lock your vehicle and then lock your garage.

These are absolutely crimes of opportunity and if they are unable to gain access to the inside of your garage or your car they will move on.

Riverside Police have taken measures in attempt to make an arrest in this case by adjusting patrol schedules, our type of vehicles used, bicycle patrol and investigative techniques.

I also encourage residents to call the police immediately if they see any suspicious activity or person at any time during the day or night.
