08/01

Animal DOA: An officer removed a dead rabbit out of the roadway.

Traffic Complaint: A motorcycle reportedly went through a closed intersection under construction after multiple flaggers attempted to stop it. Officers were unable to find a motorcycle matching the description given.

Public Service: The city of Valdez requested an officer stand by while they temporarily closed down Meals Avenue and Pioneer Street.

Lost Property: A tan wallet was reportedly lost in the Valdez area. If found please turn it into the Police Department.

Camping: A community safety officer notified individuals in a motor home on city property of the no camping ordinance. They agreed to move to another area.

08/02

Criminal Mischief: A vehicle reportedly drove away from a gas station still connected to the gas pump. Officers notified attendants who then fixed the pump.

Criminal Mischief: A local business reported vandalism had occurred on their property. This case is currently under investigation.

Parking: A motor home was reportedly parked on the corner of an intersection obstructing traffic. Upon officer’s arrival it had already left the area.

Found Property: A pistol magazine was turned into the Police Department. Call with descriptors to claim.

Agency Assistance: Officers assisted US Marshalls in an attempt to take an individual into custody. The subject then made suicidal attempts and was taken to the hospital by medical personnel.

Traffic Complaint: A caller reported a red Mazda truck drove past his residence at a high rate of speed. Officers contacted the driver who was issued a verbal warning for speeding.

Fraud: An individual reportedly received a letter from a debt collector stating that he owes $18,000.00. This case is currently under investigation.

Possible Intoxicated Driver: A green Yukon reportedly almost hit a guard rail then drove over the center line. An officer contacted the driver of the vehicle who was determined not to be impaired.

Motor Vehicle Accident: A minor vehicle accident was reported in a business parking lot. Par forms were issued to both drivers.

Embezzlement: A local business owner reported an employee was stealing. This case is currently under investigation.

08/03

Bar Disturbance: Officers were requested at a local bar for an ongoing disturbance.

Intoxicated Individual: A caller requested officer’s assistance getting an intoxicated individual inside of their residence for the night.

Serve Time: Dean A. Madden, DOB 03/24/1961, of Valdez served 3 days at the Valdez Jail on the original charge of Driving under the Influence.

Animal at Large: A caller reported a dog loose in a residential area. The animal control officer was unable to find a dog matching the description given.

Serve Time: Ethan J. Connell, DOB 08/16/1995, of Valdez, served 3 days at the Valdez Jail on the original charge DV Assault in the Fourth Degree.

Animal Impound: A dog was impounded while running at large on Glacier Haul Road.

Fish & Game: Two juveniles were reportedly throwing rocks and sticks at the marmots near the John Kelsey Dock. Upon officer’s arrival, they had already left the area.

Neighbor Issues: An individual reported equipment of his was taken off of his property by his neighbor and was now on his neighbor’s property. After talking to both parties involved, an officer determined the equipment has always belonged to the neighbor and it was a civil issue.

Welfare Check: An anonymous caller requested to speak with an officer and hung up before giving any information. Officers were able to locate the individual at a local bar that was highly intoxicated and emotional but agreed to leave the premises.

Found Property: A local business turned in their lost and found to the Police Department including several phones, jewelry, purses, a thumb drive, and a photo card. If you believe any of these items could be yours, call with descriptors to claim.

Assault Information: An individual requested to speak with an officer regarding Domestic Violence. An officer provided them advice and state law information.

Neighbor Issues: A caller reported having ongoing issues with an intoxicated neighbor and requested an officer trespass him from his property. Officer’s contacted the individual and notified him of the trespass warning.

Camping: A community safety officer notified individuals in multiple motor homes on city property of the no camping ordinance. They agreed to move to another area.

Disturbance: An individual was reportedly breaking glass and throwing things outside of their residence. Upon officers arrival everything appeared to be normal and no glass was found in the area.

Indecent Viewing: A caller reported their neighbor had been repeatedly standing in front of a window unclothed in view of children outside playing. Officer’s contacted the individual who agreed to keep the shades closed from then on.

08/04

Disturbance: An individual was reportedly intoxicated, yelling, and throwing items in a nearby residence. Upon officers arrival it was determined an argument had occurred between two individuals, but nothing physical had occurred.

Found Property: An American Flag was found lying in the roadway. Call the Police Department with descriptors to claim.

Noise Disturbance: Yelling and screaming was heard coming from a nearby apartment. Upon officer’s arrival the individual was told to quiet down to which she eventually did.

Animal Neglect: A concerned caller reported to a Community Safety Officer that a dog at a nearby residence was on a short leash and could not reach food or water. The owner of the dog was contacted and agreed to extend the lead.

Camping: A caller requested officers ask an individual camping at the end of a residential street to leave the area.

Arrested: Natalie E. Gabler, DOB 03/11/1986, of Valdez, was arrested on the charge of Driving under the Influence after providing a breath alcohol content of .089.

08/05

Arrested: Colton Newkirk, DOB 12/09/1992, of Idaho, was arrested on the charge of Driving under the Influence after providing a breath alcohol content of .109.

Disturbance: A caller reported their roommate was upset and breaking things in their residence. Upon officer’s arrival, transportation was provided for the subject to another location.

Agency Assistance: A caller reported he watched an individual pour what he believed to be antifreeze into the Small Boat Harbor. Coast Guard personnel were notified.

DWLR/DWLS: An individual received a verbal warning for driving without a valid license on a roadway.

Medical Assistance: Officer’s assisted medical personnel with a heavily intoxicated individual who had an eye injury.

Property Theft: A cell phone was reportedly stolen from an individual’s residence after an altercation had occurred. This case is currently under investigation.

Agency Assistance: Officer’s assisted fire personnel with an electrical box that was reportedly shooting sparks near the small boat harbor.

Violating Conditions of Release: Osvaldo Carrillo, DOB 07/10/1987, of Valdez, is being held at the Valdez Jail for Violating Conditions of Release on three pending criminal cases.

Title 47 ETOH: Multiple calls were received regarding an individual yelling and attempting to fight others in a residential area. Officers made contact with the individual who was determined to be heavily intoxicated and was then transported to the Valdez Jail to be held until they were sober.

08/06

Remand: Adrian T. Ewan, DOB 12/30/1979, of Gakona, was remanded to the Valdez Jail for violating a felony probation violation.

Arrested: Monika A. White, DOB 12/06/1972, of Valdez, was arrested on the charges of DV Assault in the fourth degree and Unlawful Contact in the second degree.

MIP/MIC: Reina D. Ewan, DOB 12/26/1995, of Copper Center, was cited for Minor Consuming Alcohol after providing a breath alcohol content of .041.

Public Service: Officer’s and Public Safety Personnel provided assistance and traffic control for Gold Rush Day events.

Lost Property: A wristlet wallet was reportedly lost in the Valdez area. If found, please turn it into the Police Department.

Animal Impound: A black lab was impounded after reportedly running at large on Egan Drive.

Camping: A community safety officer notified individuals in a motor home on city property of the no camping ordinance. They agreed to move to another area.

Found Property: A small clutch containing an Alaska Driver license and several other cards was turned into the Police Department. Please call with descriptors to claim.

08/07

Theft of Bicycle: A bicycle was reportedly stolen from the outside of a local bar. Approximately forty minutes later, officers located the bike at another business nearby and returned it to the owner.

Arrested: Alec L. Holford, DOB 07/31/1991, of Valdez, was arrested on the charge of Driving under the Influence of a controlled substance.

Arrested: An officer conducted a routine traffic stop on a vehicle driven with a plastic cup full of alcohol sitting on the bumper. Subsequently, James M. Kendall, DOB 09/24/1949, of Wasilla, was arrested on the charge of Driving under the Influence after providing a breath alcohol content of .234.

Agency Assistance: Multiple landslides occurred causing debris on a roadway.

Property Theft: An Iphone was reportedly dropped on South Harbor Drive and when the owner went back to retrieve it the phone had been taken. This case is currently under investigation.

Motor Vehicle Hit & Run: A vehicle was reportedly side swiped by a white pickup truck that did not stop. This case is currently under investigation.
