*Update* #LASD Detectives Investigate Deputy-Involved Shooting, Suspect Struck by Gunfire, 10200blk Inglewood Av, Lennox

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide detectives are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding a deputy-involved shooting that occurred in the 10200 block of Inglewood Avenue, Lennox, at 12:01 p.m. on Sunday, August 07, 2016.

Detectives have learned that a deputy was driving south on Inglewood Avenue when he saw a male adult in his early 20’s spray painting gang graffiti on a wall.  In an effort to safely detain the suspect and investigate the criminal activity, the deputy initiated a back-up request.

As the deputy maintained a visual of the suspect, the suspect saw the deputy and immediately ran across Inglewood Avenue and entered a residence to avoid apprehension.

Upon the arrival of assisting deputies, the deputy contacted the residents of the house where he saw the suspect enter.  During the investigation, the suspect was found hiding in the bathroom shower of the residence, at which time a deputy-involved shooting occurred.

The suspect was struck by gunfire in the upper torso and transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

No deputies were injured.

The residents of the house were also not injured.

A weapon was not recovered.

The investigation is ongoing and there is no additional information available at this time.
