Advisory

Teton County has lifted area closure and evac order for Granite Creek. Some Forest restrictions still in place.

As of 10:00 a.m. on 8/5/16, Teton County has removed the area closure and lifted the evacuation order for the Granite Creek drainage in southern Teton County.  There are still some Forest Service restrictions in place, however:

  • Granite Creek Road will be opened to property owners and the public at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 5th
  • The east side of Granite Creek will remain closed to the public with the exception of property owners accessing their property.  This is still an active fire area.
  • Public access will be allowed west of Granite Creek for day use only.  No overnight camping will be allowed.
  • Granite Hot Springs will remain closed.

Contact Bridger-Teton National Forest with further questions regarding forest access.  See attached press release for further details.

Also see attachment for information from Teton County Public Health on safety tips for returning to your evacuated property.

Teton County Emergency Management would like to thank the visitors and especially the residents of Granite Creek for their patience and cooperation during this trying time.  Their compliance with evacuation orders and closures helped to greatly increase the safety of the public and firefighters.
