Police Urge South Campus Residents to Raise Awareness Following Overnight Robberies

The Police Department is encouraging South Campus residents to pay close attention to their surroundings following five pedestrian robberies that occurred between 10:00pm and 11:45pm on 8/1/16. Based on the descriptions of the suspects, their close geographic and chronological proximity, Detectives believe there is a high probability that the cases are related.

In all five instances the two suspects were described by the victims as:
Suspect 1: A black male adult, late teens/early 20s, 5’7, medium build, wearing a gray sweatshirt
Suspect 2: A black male adult, late teens/early 20s, 6’0”, thin build, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt
Community members are encouraged to follow these safety tips when walking at night:
- Pay attention to your surroundings
- Travel in large groups whenever possible
- Consider putting your smart phone in a pocket while in transit
- Attempt to travel in well lighted, highly populated areas whenever possible
