#LASD Homicide Det's & Family Look for Granddaughter, GreatGrandkids of Deceased Bell Woman

Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau Detectives and Family Seek Public’s Assistance In Locating Granddaughter and Great-Grandchildren of Deceased Wioman from Bell

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in locating four children, ranging in age from one to nine years old, and their mother, after finding an elderly woman dead in the city of Bell.

On Thursday morning, July 21, 2016, police officers from Bell Police Department were dispatched to a home in the 6600 block of Pine Avenue to check the welfare of Mrs. Paula Montoya.  Paula, a 64-year-old grandmother of six children and great-grandmother of four, was active in her church and community; it was unusual for Paula’s family not to have daily contact with her, and after several days without word from her, they became concerned and called police.

It was around 7:00 AM when Bell police officers arrived at the home and found Paula Montoya deceased.  The response of Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau detectives was requested and they began an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Paula’s death.

Detectives learned Paula was last seen on Monday, July 18, 2016 in the company of her granddaughter, Sarah Montoya, and her four children.  Moreover, concerned family members have seen neither Sarah nor the children since this incident.

Sarah Montoya is a person of interest in this case and investigators would like to speak with her.  She is described as a female Hispanic, 24 years old; she stands 4’11” tall, weighs 130 pounds, and has long, black hair and brown eyes.  Detectives believe she may have fled to Mexico with sons Joshua, Yosu, and Elijah Rodriguez, and daughter Abagail Rodriguez.

The detectives and several of Sarah's family members made a plea to the public Tuesday, August 2, 2016, for their assistance in locating the young mother and her children.  If you have any information about Sarah, the children or this investigation, please call Homicide Bureau Detectives Gene Morse or Dave Gunner at 323-890-5500.  If you wish to remain anonymous, please call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.
