National Night Out Against Crime

The Muskegon Public Safety Office would like to remind everyone that tomorrow, Tuesday, August 2 is National Night Out Against Crime.

This year's NNO in Muskegon will include a morning kick off event in addition to the thirteen individual neighborhood events taking place in the evening. Please consider joining us for the kick off and the evening event in your neighborhood.

A brief description of each of the events including the newly added kickoff can be found below. Please join us in getting to know your neighbors and local police .


Muskegon NNO 2016 Media Kick Off Event

A media kickoff event sponsored by Consumers Energy in cooperation with local police agencies will be held on the grounds of Hot Rod Harley Davidson off of Shoreline Drive. The main purpose of the media kickoff event is to help get the word out about National Night Out and about the evening NNO Activities. This event will take place from 7:30 a.m.to 9 a.m. on August 2. Plans call for a reading of a proclamation by officials from area municipalities that are participating in NNO. Information will be available on the individual evening events. There will be a limited supply of coffee and donuts while they last. Consumers Energy will offer a limited amount of light bulbs to correspond with the evening NNO leave your outside lights on and fellowship with your neighbors theme. These will be first come first served one per family while they last. We invite and encourage any broadcast media to attend.


Angell Neighborhood Association

6:00 to 8:00 p.m. August 2

The Angell Neighborhood Association is planning an NNO neighborhood gathering in the back yard of Angell Community Church, 446 Ada Street. There will be hot dogs, beverages, fun and games.


Sheldon Park Neighborhood's
Going Away Party For Crime
6:00 to 7:30 p.m. August 2

The Sheldon Park Neighborhood Association NNO Going Away Party for Crime will be held on the grounds of Crestwood United Methodist Church located at Creston Avenue and Calvin Street. There will be food, beverages and entertainment for Sheldon Park Neighborhood residents.


McLaughlin Neighborhood Association
NNO Gathering
6:00 p.m. to 8 p.m. August 2

The McLaughlin Neighborhood will once again be participating in National Night Out
events. Neighbors are invited to join together at the McLaughlin Community Park at the corner of Terrace and Isabella starting at 6:00pm for a neighborhood picnic. There is also be a special dedication of their memory garden in memory of three individuals.


Oakview Neighborhood Association
Neighborhood Gathering
6:00- 8:00 p.m. August 2

The Oakview Neighborhood Association is planning a neighborhood gathering for National Night Out for neighborhood residents at First Wesleyan Church grounds at 1040 E. Forest Avenue. There will be a great free BBQ chicken dinner and plans include bounce house games and the county’s “Seat Belt Convincer”. Come meet your neighborhood police officer and your Oakview Neighborhood Association Board of Directors.




Nims Neighborhood Association
NNO Event
6:00 – 8:00 p.m. August 2

Nims neighborhood will be hosting a neighborhood NNO event at Nims Park (corner of Southern & Davis. There will be vendors, hot dogs, chips, cookies & beverages. The kids will be able to play on our park playground equipment. Plans call for arts & crafts for the kids. A fire truck will be there for a portion of the evening.


Nelson Neighborhood Improvement Association
NNO – Neighborhood Picnic/Potluck
6 p.m. – 8 p.m. August 2

The NNIA will be holding an NNO picnic at St. Joe's Park on Monroe, between 4th and 5th Streets. Games for kids, hot dogs and beverages will be provided. Bring a dish to pass and be ready for some great neighborhood fun.


Campbell Field Neighborhood Association

6 p.m. to 8 p.m. August 2

The Campbell Field Neighborhood Association will be hosting a national night out event at Campbell Field for neighborhood residents. There will be hotdogs and chips as well as family friendly activities such as face painting, sidewalk chalk and bracelet making.


Lakeside Neighborhood Association

6 p.m. to 8 p.m. August 2

The Lakeside Neighborhood Association is planning a neighborhood event at the Pocket Park on Lakeshore Drive from 6 to 8 p.m. Plans call for a pizza party, face painting, chalk art, music and more….


Marquette Neighborhood Association

6 p.m. to 8 p.m. August 2

The Marquette Neighborhood Association is planning a community picnic at Beukema Playfield.


Beachwood/Bluffton Neighborhood Association

6 p.m. to 8 p.m. August 2

The Beachwood/Bluffton Neighborhood Association is planning a community open house at the Deck restaurant at Pere Marquette Beach. The Deck is providing free appetizers and soft drinks to Beachwood-Bluffton Neighborhood Association neighbors. Menu and a cash bar will also be available. The association will be collecting updated email information for neighbors and gathering on the back deck to get to know each other better.

Marsh Field Neighborhood Association

The Marsh Field Neighborhood Association will be hosting a pot luck at Marsh Field. Neighbors are asked to bring a dish to pass and table settings and their own drinks.


East Muskegon Neighborhood

6 p.m. to 8 p.m. August 2

The East Muskegon Neighborhood will be hosting an NNO event at the lot at 905 E. Keating. There will be inflatable games, trains, hot dogs, face painting and more.


Jackson Hill Neighborhood Association

6 p.m. to 8 p.m. August 2

The Jackson Hill Neighborhood Association is planning a community get together at Aamodt Park at 6pm.
