The Pasadena Police Department invites you to participate in the 33rd Annual National Night Out (NNO) crime, drug, and violence prevention program sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW). The coast-to-coast event will be held on the evening of Tuesday, August 2, 2016, and is expected to involve hundreds of Pasadena residents and millions of neighbors and businesses across the country.
The purpose of National Night Out is to build strong partnerships between the police and community and to promote crime awareness programs such as Neighborhood Watch. Neighborhoods across the nation host block parties, cookouts and other community events with visits from emergency personnel. According to NATW, last year 38 million community members and various law enforcement and fire department agencies from 15,728 communities across all 50 states, U.S. territories and military bases joined forces to celebrate the Annual National Night Out.
Pasadena’s 20th NNO will begin with a kick-off event at 5:00 PM at Washington Park (700 E. Washington Bl., Pasadena). The kick-off event, sponsored by the Friends of Washington Park, Washington Square Neighborhood Association (NA), El Rio/Lake NA and Craftman Hts. NA, will feature safety and information booths from the Pasadena Police Department, Library Services, Public Health Dept., and New York Life Insurance (Child ID Booth). Afterward, local first responders will spread out throughout Pasadena joining various neighborhood block parties.
If you would like host a gathering/block party with your neighbors, business owners and/or apartment complex, contact the Community Services Section at (626) 744-4551. You may also support events already scheduled in your neighborhood. For a list of locations visit: http://www.ci.pasadena.ca.us/police/ under “COMMUNITY OUTREACH”.
