First Mosquito Samples Infected with West Nile in Santa Ana / Primeras Muestras de Mosquitos Infectadas con Nilo Occidental en Santa Ana 
An important message from the Orange County Mosquito and Vector Control District.
WARNING: The Orange County Mosquito and Vector Control District has confirmed the first mosquito samples infected with West Nile virus (WNV) in the City of Santa Ana for 2016.
The mosquitoes were collected in a mosquito trap at Alona St. & 21 St., and on E. Chestnut Ave. Their teams will be posting the areas this week. They will also be sending crew members to alert residents to the detection of WNV and preventative measures residents can take to protect themselves and their families from mosquitoes and WNV.
Follow these recommendations to protect yourself and your family:
• Dump or drain any standing water
• Repair window and door screens
• Apply repellent when outdoors
• Avoid spending time outdoors at dawn or dusk
• Report mosquitoes, dead birds, abandoned swimming pools, ponds, and fountains

Primeras Muestras de Mosquitos Infectadas con Nilo Occidental en Santa Ana
ADVERTENCIA: El Distrito de Control del Mosquito del Condado de Orange ha confirmado las primeras muestras de mosquitos infectadas con el virus del Nilo Occidental (VNO) en la Ciudad de Santa Ana en 2016.
Los mosquitos se recogieron en una trampa para mosquitos en Alona St. y 21 St., y en E. Chestnut Ave. Sus equipos estarán desplegando advertencias en estas áreas esta semana. También estarán enviando miembros de la tripulación para alertar a los residentes sobre la detección del virus del Nilo Occidental y las medidas preventivas residentes pueden tomar para protegerse a sí mismos y a sus familias de los mosquitos y virus del Nilo Occidental.
Siga estas recomendaciones para protegerse a usted y a su familia:
• Vacíe o drene cualquier agua estancada
• Repare las pantallas de la ventana y de la puerta
• Use repelente cuando esté al aire libre
• Evite pasar tiempo al aire libre al amanecer o al atardecer
• Reporte piscinas abandonadas, estanques y fuentes
