Vehicle Collision into Margaret Todd Center and DUI Arrest

On Monday July 25, 2016, at about 3:02 am, NPD Dispatch received a call of a solo vehicle collision near Hill Road and Indian Valley Road. It was reported that the vehicle collided into the City of Novato Margaret Todd Senior Center. Officers, Marin County Sheriff Deputies, and Novato Fire Protection District staff responded to the collision scene and found the vehicle stopped inside the building. The first responders came to the aid of the driver and solo occupant of the vehicle. The collision resulted in significant damage to the senior center, destroying an office and storage area.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the building, Ermelindo Yaa-Colli, a 38 year old San Rafael resident, exhibited objective signs of being impaired. He suffered minor injuries in the collision and was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment. He was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. Following medical treatment, Yaa-Colli was transported to the Marin County Jail and was booked on suspicion of driving under the influence.
