Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide detectives are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding a dead body that was discovered in the 26700 block of Iron Canyon Road, Santa Clarita.

Detectives have learned that at approximately 7:20 p.m. on Saturday, July 23, 2016, firefighters battling the Sand Fire discovered the remains of an unknown person inside a burned small compact sedan that was parked in the driveway of a residence.   

At this time, there is no indication that the death was a criminal event.

The identity of the deceased is unknown at this time and the exact cause of death will be determined by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner.

The investigation is on-going and there is no additional information available at this time.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
