Advisory

Heavily armed suspect taken into custody during the attempt service of an Emergency Gun Protective Order.

This afternoon the Dos Palos Police Department attempted to serve an Emergency Gun Protective Order on the person of Anthony Fachenda born in 1976. Fachenda was on a Dppd watch list after he was accused of stalking and numerous tresspass warnings.

As the first officer arrived on Scene, a call came over the radio advising Fachenda was out front of the residence with a shot gun.

Three Dos Palos Officers arrived and immediately began an active shooter protocol.

"As Chief of Police, I am proud of the way officers handled this situation, and equally proud of the citizens of Dos Palos that were willing to get involved."

We live another day

"We began negotiations with the suspect as he stood in his door way. While two officers engaged the suspect, the third officer was able to gain a position of advantage and deploy a department k9."

Fachenda was taken into custody without shots being fired. Fachenda states he may work for the Secret Service.

Four guns were removed from his vehicle, two from his residence. Also located was a Law Enforcement load vest, A high power spotting scope, several large knives, and numerous boxes of ammunition.

"We thank those who warned us of the active situation. Without this information, it was likely we would have engaged in a gun battle. The hero's are the citizens who saved our lives and likely the life of Mr. Fachenda."

The Dos Palos Police Department were able to host a de-escalation training yesterday. "We never thought we would be able to use the training one day after attending."

It is believed that Fachenda is suffering from mental illness.
