On Monday, State Police Superintendent Doug Carter announced the promotion of Sergeant Jerry Holeman to the rank of First Sergeant where he will serve as District Investigative Commander. First Sergeant Holeman was selected after competing in a stringent written and oral interview process. In this new capacity, Holeman will oversee all criminal investigations at the district and supervise the investigative personnel at the post. Other duties will include guiding and assisting road troopers, detectives, and local agencies in ongoing investigations.
Holeman started his career with the Indiana State Police after graduating from the 61st academy class in 2001. He was assigned to the Lafayette Post where he worked the road in White and Carroll Counties. In 2006 Holeman was assigned to the Methamphetamine Suppression Section for approximately three years when he applied and was selected as a an Investigator assigned to the Criminal Investigation Division for ISP at the Lafayette Post. In 2014, he was selected as the Investigative Squad Leader (Sergeant) of the detectives where he has served until promoted to First Sergeant.
Holeman was a graduate of North White High School in 1989. After high school, he enlisted in the US Marine Corps where he was honorably discharged after serving eight years. Before being accepted to the ISP Academy, he attended Purdue University. He now resides in White County with his wife and family.
