HOLLISTER, CALIFORNIA – July 19, 2016– Hollister, CA – Hollister Officers responded to a call of a dog on a ledge of a window. When they arrived the dog fell and was caught by an officer.
On July 19, 2016 at about 3:30 pm Animal Care and Services received a call from a concerned citizen. They advised there was a dog leaning out through a broken screen window of a second story condominium on the 200 block of Gibson Drive. The caller feared the dog would jump or fall.
Animal Care and Services called Hollister Police to respond. Hollister Police Officer’s Melgoza and Tong arrived and could see a small Shih Tzu dog on the window ledge outside of a broken screen, later identified as Sophie.
Bystanders told the officers the dog had been out on the window ledge for a couple hours. While Officers were attempting to contact the owner, the dog suddenly stumbled and fell from the window.
Officer Tong was able to react and catch the dog before it hit the ground. Officer Tong’s quick thinking and reaction saved the dog from injury. Hollister Police Officers were not able to reach the dog owner at the home, but left messages. Sophie was later claimed by her owner at the Hollister Animal Shelter and is safely home again.
Animal Care and Services would like to remind everyone to make sure your fences and windows are secure. Make sure your pets have a micro-chip and identification on their collars.

HOLLISTER, CALIFORNIA – July 19, 2016– Hollister, CA – Oficiales de Hollister respondieron a una llamada de un perro en una repisa de una ventana. Cuando llegaron al perro cayó y fue atrapado por un oficial.
El 19 de Julio 2016 a aproximadamente 3:30 de la tarde, El Departamento de Cuidado y Servicios de Animales recibió una llamada de una persona preocupada. Reportaba que había un perro por la ventana de el segundo piso de un condominio localizado por el bloque 200 de Gibson Drive. La tela de alambre estaba rota y la persona que llamaba temía que el perro podria saltar o caer.
Agentes de Cuidado y Servicios de Animales llamaron a la policía de Hollister para responder. Oficiales Melgoza y Tong de la Policía de Hollister llegaron y pudieron ver un pequeño perro Shih Tzu sobre la repisa de la ventana fuera de una tela de alambre rota.
Los espectadores les dijo a los oficiales que el perro había estado fuera de la repisa de la ventana por un par de horas. Mientras que los oficiales estaban tratando de ponerse en contacto con el propietario, el perro de repente tropezó y saltó de la ventana.
Oficial Tong fue capaz de reaccionar y atrapar el perro antes de que tocara el piso. La rápida reacción del Oficial Tong rescato el perro de una lesión. Los oficiales de policía de Hollister no fueron capaces de localizar al dueño del perro en la casa, pero dejaron mensajes.
El perro fue reunido más tarde con su dueño en el Departamento de Cuidado y Servicios de Animales. El perro esta bien en su casa de nuevo.
