Modesto, CA – An early morning search warrant service resulted in the recovery of a gun, drugs, and a destructive device within 800 feet of a south Modesto school.

At about 10:30 a.m., officers with the Modesto Narcotics Enforcement Team (MNET), Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT) and the Stanislaus Drug Enforcement Agency (SDEA) served a search warrant at a residence in the 900 block of California Avenue. During the investigation, methamphetamine, heroin, a rifle were found inside the home. Investigators also found a destructive device, which was later rendered safe by the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department Bomb Squad.

The 61-year-old resident, Neal Taylor, was arrested for sales of drugs, possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of ammo by a felon and possession of a destructive device. Ron McNeill, 56 years old, and Raymond Ortiz, 59 years old, were also arrested on outstanding warrants.
