On July 13, 2016, at approximately 10:22 PM, officers were dispatched to the1300 block of Chilco Street on the report of an armed robbery. Menlo Park Police Communications advised that the suspects were last seen on Hamilton Avenue. Menlo Park Police arrived within one minute to the area and began searching for the suspects. The suspects were not located.

The victim stated that he had just arrived home from work and parked his vehicle when two men approached his car door. Suspect #1 stated, "Give me what you have" and brandished a knife with the blade pointing towards the victim. Suspect #2 stood behind Suspect #1 and did not say anything although he was holding a tire iron by his side. The victim turned over his wallet to Suspect #1. The suspects walked eastbound on Chilco Street while Suspect #1 removed $800 cash from the victim’s wallet and dropped the wallet near the hood of the victim’s car. Both suspects then fled southbound on Hamilton Avenue. The victim was uninjured.

He was also wearing a black sweater and black Adidas sweat pants with white stripes down the sides. The knife was possibly a pocket knife with a black colored blade approximately five inches long.

Suspect #2 was described as a Hispanic or Pacific Islander man in his 20's, about 6' tall, with a thinner build, weighing about 180 pounds. He wore a black hooded sweatshirt with the hood pulled over his head and the strings of the hood tied in front of his face, limiting the victim’s view of Suspect #2's face.
