Arrest for Possession for Sales, Methamphetamine

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
On July 11th, 2016 at approximately 11:35 PM an officer from the Angels Camp Police Department made a traffic stop on a vehicle for a window tint infraction, near the intersection of N. Main Street and Dogtown Road. While the officer was speaking with the occupants of the vehicle he was informed by the driver that his driver license was suspended and that he possibly had an outstanding warrant for his arrest out of Placer County. A records check confirmed that the information was true and the driver was taken into custody. Consent was obtained to search the vehicle, and the passenger was asked to exit the vehicle to facilitate the search. During the search narcotic paraphernalia was found, including a glass methamphetamine smoking pipe, hypodermic syringes, plastic packaging material containing suspected methamphetamine residue, and a digital scale.

Upon questioning the passenger further, it was discovered that he had methamphetamine concealed on his person. A container was recovered from the passenger that contained a large plastic baggy with approximately 58 grams of methamphetamine, a hypodermic syringe loaded with suspected liquid methamphetamine, five smaller plastic baggies containing approximately 1 gram each of methamphetamine, and approximately 10 grams of marijuana.

Daniel Earl McElfresh, a 43 year old Sacramento resident, was booked in the Calaveras County Jail on the following charges;

1) 11378 Health and Safety Code, Possession for Sales, Methamphetamine
2) 11379(a) Health and Safety Code, Transportation for Sales, Methamphetamine
3) 11377(a) Health and Safety Code, Possession of Methamphetamine
4) 14601.1(a) Vehicle Code, Driving on a Suspended Driver License

He was also booked on the outstanding Placer County warrant.

The passenger was transported to Mark Twain Hospital for a medical clearance, due to an existing injury, and was ultimately admitted. Charges are pending against him.
