A suspect is arrested for robbery, assault on a peace officer & evading following a pursuit through Barstow

SUSPECT(S): Andrew Smith, age 31
VICTIM(S): Confidential
SUMMARY: On July 11, 2016, at approximately 8:00 p.m., Deputy Chris Hancock attempted a traffic stop on a 1999 Honda. The driver failed to yield, and led Hancock on a traffic pursuit through portions of north Barstow. At one point the driver, Andrew Smith, lost control of the vehicle and became stuck in the soft sand in the Riverbed. Smith and a passenger fled on foot. Deputy Hancock apprehended Smith however, the passenger was not located.
Andrew Smith was found to have outstanding warrants for his arrest for Robbery and Assault with a Deadly Weapon on a Peace Officer. He was transported and booked into the Barstow Jail for both warrants as well as, felony failure to yield. Andrew Smith is being held without bail.
