On Tuesday, August 2^nd, 2016, neighborhoods throughout North Aurora are invited to join over 38 million people in over 16 thousand communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities, and military bases worldwide.  National Night is nationally sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW), ADT, Nextdoor, Associa, and co-sponsored locally by the North Aurora Police Department.

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, better places to live. Together, we are making that happen.

From 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., neighbors throughout North Aurora and across the nation are asked to lock their doors, turn on your front porch lights and spend the evening outside with neighbors and law enforcement. To participate in National Night Out, all citizens have to do is to turn on their outside lights, gather with neighbors (in the front of the houses), and socialize.  Your event can be as involved or simple as you want it and you set the hours.  The North Aurora Police Department will have extra officers and McGruff the Crime Dog on patrol stopping by citizen gatherings.  They’ll share crime prevention information, show off their squad cars, and give away sticker badges to the kids.
