Twin Peaks - Deputies are investigating a boating collision that occurred near Rainbow Bay on Lake Arrowhead

INCIDENT: Boating Collision Investigation
INVOLVED PARTIES: Driver #1- 23 year old resident of Costa Mesa,
Driver #2- 52 year old resident of San Juan Capistrano
LOCATION: Rainbow Bay, Lake Arrowhead
SUMMARY: On Saturday, July 2, 2016, at approximately 6:00 pm, Deputies from the Twin Peaks Sheriff Station and Arrowhead Lake Association Patrol were dispatched to a two boat collision near Rainbow Bay on Lake Arrowhead. The boats involved were a blue Bayliner and a yellow Sun Deck. Through the course of the investigation, deputies discovered one female and one infant were ejected from the Bayliner into the water. The female sustained severe injuries and was airlifted to Loma Linda University Medical Center. The female was released from the hospital the following day. The infant sustained no injuries thanks in part to his life preserver and the quick action of assisting boaters. The infant was released from the hospital that same day. Due to the severity of the injuries, the Sheriff's Boat Accident Investigation Team (B.A.I.T.) responded to the scene.
The investigation is ongoing and deputies are investigating if alcohol was a contributing factor to the collision. Deputies are seeking the public's help in locating additional witnesses to the collision.
