Deputies arrest Terry Ransom for trying to kidnap a 4 year old from a store

SUSPECT(S): Terry Ransom, 24 of Hesperia
VICTIM(S): Confidential
SUMMARY: On July 1, 2016, Sheriff’s dispatch received a call that a man had tried to take a 4 year old girl from inside of a business. Deputies from the Victorville Police Department responded to the business and discovered that Terry Ransom entered the business and grabbed the four year old girl, who was inside with her mother and infant sibling. Ransom attempted to flee the location with the victim but lost his grip on her, just outside of the business, as she tried to get away from him.
The mother of the victim was heard screaming by several nearby people who saw the suspect running from the scene and chased after him. Several deputies responding to the call immediately searched the surrounding area. The suspect was located near the scene and detained without incident.
The victim was scared and upset but did not appear to suffer any physical injuries. The suspect was evaluated at a local hospital and then booked at the High Desert Detention Center on charges of kidnapping and child cruelty.
