CELEBRATE THE 4TH OF JULY SAFELY & LEGALLY. ALL FIREWORKS ARE BANNED IN HAYWARD.

The Fourth of July is just around the corner, a time for barbecues, picnics, pool parties and parades. But fireworks? Not in Hayward! Fireworks of any kind – including the so-called “Safe & Sane” varieties – are illegal in the City of Hayward and in the Fairview Fire Protection District. Do your part to make this a safe, happy and enjoyable Independence Day!

Remember: ALL FIREWORKS ARE PROHIBITED (including all “Safe & Sane” varieties) within Hayward and the Fairview Fire Protection District. If you see someone playing with fireworks, even if they are the “Safe & Sane” variety, call the Hayward Police Department at (510) 293-7000. If a fire develops, call 911 immediately!

The Hayward Police Department and the Hayward Fire Department wish you and your family a safe and enjoyable Fourth of July holiday. Happy Independence Day!

Waving a sparkler around is hardly worth incurring fines or jail time. ALL fireworks – including the “Safe & Sane” kind – are banned in the City of Hayward. Do your part to keep homes, family members, pets and neighbors safe. Report all firework activity to the Hayward Police Department at (510) 293-7000.

Three fantastic reasons NOT to buy or use fireworks this Fourth of July:
1. All fireworks are illegal in the City of Hayward. Violators can be fined or face jail time.
2. Fireworks and our extreme drought conditions are a dangerous, potentially deadly mix.
3. Nearly 10,000 people are injured by fireworks every year, most of them children.
