Drug Possession and Resisting Arrest During Traffic Stop - North Codorus Twp.

At 3 PM on today’s date (06.23.16), officers were performing a speed check detail on Walters Hatchery Rd., near Seven Valleys Rd. (SR 616) in North Codorus Twp.

The officers stopped a 2012 Acura for excessive speed. The vehicle was driven by Victor Dorrell Savoy, Jr., of North Codorus Twp. Upon speaking with the driver, the officers could smell a strong odor of an illegal drug. The driver exited the vehicle upon the officer’s request and then attempted to reenter the vehicle against the officer’s wishes. A physical struggle ensued between the officers and Savoy as he resisted arrest. Savoy was eventually detained but two others who were passengers in the vehicle drove off in the vehicle. The vehicle narrowly missed the officers who were in the roadway in front of the vehicle.

A description of the vehicle that fled was put out to other police units in York County. In or around the Shrewsbury exit, Southern Regional Police observed the vehicle southbound on I-83. The Acura fled from the officers. Eventually the vehicle was located abandoned near the Hunt Valley exit of I-83. With the assistance of the Baltimore County Police and the Maryland State Police, the two subjects who fled in the vehicle were also located several exits north of Hunt Valley.
