INCIDENT: Homicide Investigation

LOCATION: 36000 Ramirez Rd., Barstow

VICTIM: Robert Whitnack, 33, Barstow

SUSPECT: Scott Brodie, 44, Barstow

SUMMARY:
On Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at 9:10 p.m. deputies responded to a 911 call at the Ramirez Rd. property. The caller said someone had been shot. Deputies and medical personnel responded and found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim, identified as Robert Whitnack, was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Sheriff’s Homicide Investigators responded and are conducting the investigation. During the investigation, Detectives determined that Whitnack and Brodie were involved in a verbal dispute inside a building on the property and Brodie shot Whitnack. Brodie fled the area immediately following the shooting. Sheriff’s Specialized Enforcement Detail located Brodie in Barstow and he was taken into custody without incident.

Brodie was booked at the Barstow jail and will be held on $1,000,000. bail.
