Berkeley Police and UC Berkeley Police Team Up to Run Flame of Hope for Special Olympics
This morning members of the Berkeley Police Department (BPD) and UC Berkeley Police Department (UCPD) will be escorting the Flame of Hope for Special Olympics through Berkeley.
At 10:00 a.m. members of BPD and UCPD will be meeting the Emeryville Police Department at San Pablo Avenue and Burnett Street. They will receive the flame and run north along San Pablo Avenue to Albany, where they will pass the torch to the Albany Police Department.
Law enforcement has been a long-time supporter of Special Olympics and this is one of the many ways BPD and UCPD members give back to the community.
If you are driving in the area, expect traffic delays as we make our way on San Pablo Avenue. Be cautious when passing our participants for their safety.
