Press Release - Arrest Made for Vehicle Theft
On Friday, June 17, 2016, at 0108 hours, Corcoran Police Officers responded to the 1900 block of Gardena Avenue for a report of a vehicle possibly being stolen. The reporting party stated they observed the vehicle, a gray 2014 GMC pickup truck, to be stalling and the reporting party thought someone may be trying to steal the vehicle. Officers arrived to the area and were contacted by the victim, Paubla Martinez, who stated the GMC belonged to her and it was in fact stolen.
At the same time a female juvenile was located in the area of the 1000 block of Oregon Avenue, and evidence found near her indicated she was responsible for vehicle break ins that had just occurred. The juvenile’s friends were known to live near the 1000 block of Norboe Avenue. Officers responded to the area and located the stolen vehicle parked in the 1200 block of Hanna Avenue. Officers also observed a black female adult, who identified herself as Porcha Reedom, getting out of the vehicle. Officers contacted Reedom and the keys to the stolen vehicle were located in Reedom’s possession.
Reedom admitted having been in the vehicle when it was taken and that it had been parked just before she was contacted. Reedom was arrested and charged with the vehicle theft and was booked into the Kings County Jail and held on $5,000 bail.
