Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau detectives are continuing their investigation into the shooting death of a Hispanic man and a shooting of another. The incident occurred at the 400 block of Shipman Avenue, unincorporated East Valinda, on Saturday, June 11, 2016, at approximately 2:48 a.m.

Detectives have learned there was a party at a residence on Shipman Avenue.  As the party ended and the guests dispersed, the victims were leaving the location but were confronted by an unknown suspect.  The suspect produced a handgun and opened fire fatally striking one victim in the upper torso. He died at the scene. The second victim was struck in the upper and lower torso, and was transported to a local hospital where he is listed in critical condition.

Immediately following the shooting, a white sport utility vehicle was seen leaving the vicinity at a high rate of speed westbound on Northam Avenue and out of view.

There is no further information and the investigation is on-going.

NARRATIVE:               

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide detectives are responding to the area of Northam Street and Shipman Avenue, La Puente, to investigate the circumstances surrounding a shooting that left one man dead and another injured. The incident occurred at approximately 2:50 AM on Saturday, June 11, 2016.

One of the victims, a male Hispanic adult, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other victim, also a male Hispanic adult, was transported to a local hospital where his condition is unknown.
